The fifth Cardiff Children’s Literature Festival landed at the weekend and will run until Sunday 2nd April 2017.

Last year’s bilingual festival was the most successful year yet with in excess of 5000 ticket sold for over 50 events running across two jam-packed weekends.

The full programme includes free English and Welsh school sessions running during the festival week.

This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with a host of exciting events in English and Welsh running at venues across the city.

What’s on

Once again, authors and illustrators will be making their words and pictures come to life with amazing tales and performances featuring a cast of wonderful characters.

The festival is ideal for all those who love children’s books and will welcome Roald Dahl Funny Prize winner Andy Stanton, festival favourite David Solomons, Hugless Douglas creator David Melling, picture book author and illustrators Chris Haughton, Rob Biddulph, BBC’s Mike Dilger, Clara Vulliamy, Huw Aaron, Anni Llŷn (Bardd Plant Cymru), Manon Steffan Ros and celebrated local author Jenny Nimmo, to name but a few.

TV personality Lucy Owen will appear at the festival to read from her recently launched children’s book, Boo-A-Bog in the Park, which is published by Gwasg Gomer.

Mum and presenter Lucy will be joined by her husband, fellow presenter Rhodri, who has translated the book into Welsh. The book is a fundraising venture for children’s charity Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity and is illustrated by celebrated illustrator Andy Catling.

You can view all of the public and school sessions available throughout the week here.

Young Critic 2017
